It’s time for 5-minute Friday, a one-word writing prompt where we write for 5 minutes without editing or stopping. Today’s word is say.
Say … As soon as I read the word for today I knew what I was going to say.
I guess I have always been a writer from the time I was a child. I was always writing something. I loved essay tests (I know … groan) probably because I could say a lot in the hope of at least sounding like I knew something about biology.
I started writing for Christian magazines in the 90s and am now in my 13th year of blogging through the Bible and writing on other subjects in that space. Strangely, I’m also perfectly comfortable teaching women’s Bible studies and doing marriage conferences with my husband.
But in December I was challenged to begin saying something on YouTube by starting a channel there to go through the Bible in a Year on that platform.
The prospect of sitting down in a room by myself and a camera and saying something was intimidating. And those first few videos were awkward, to say the least. But while I’m sure I’m a long way from where I need to be, it is at least becoming easier. I have so much to learn, even technologically. But I’m doing it.
And though it’s a lot of work, I’m being blessed in the process as it forces me to press in more to God’s Word. Speaking of work, this was going to be the year when I planned to slow down with ministry and do more scrapbooking (a hobby that I’ve not had much time for in years). But as they say … we make plans … but God.
Is God challenging you to do something new and intimidating? Why not take that step of faith?
Blessings,
Donna ♥
