Have you ever needed to pray—and simply couldn’t find the words?
Maybe something happened that left you frightened, hurt, confused, or overwhelmed.
Your thoughts were going in a dozen directions.
Your emotions were all over the place.
You knew you needed God more than ever, but when you tried to pray, nothing seemed to come.
What do you pray when you don’t know what to pray?
Thankfully, God has not left us without help.
Scattered throughout Scripture are prayers we can use as road maps when our own words fail us.
Psalm 119 gives us one of them today.
The psalmist was suffering.
He was being opposed.
He needed help.
Yet instead of allowing his circumstances to drive him away from God, he brought those circumstances directly to Him.
He told God what was happening.
He asked for help.
He remembered God’s mercy.
He reaffirmed his commitment to obey.
And finally, he anchored himself in something stronger than his emotions—the character of God and the truth of His Word.
And that same pattern can help us when prayer is hard.
We’ll also look at a proverb that sounds surprisingly relevant to turbulent political times and tackle one of the Bible’s strangest visions: Ezekiel’s four living creatures and those mysterious “wheels within wheels.”
