There are times when biblical truth is welcomed.

And there are times when people would rather the messenger simply go away.

That’s what happened to Amos.

He was essentially told:

Take your message somewhere else. We don’t want to hear it here.

Sound familiar?

Biblical truth can still be unpopular—especially when it challenges what people want to believe or how they want to live.

So what should Christians do when faithfulness to Scripture brings criticism, rejection, pressure, or even genuine personal cost?

Do we soften the message?

Remain silent?

Compromise enough to preserve people’s approval—or whatever security we fear losing?

Or is there another way to be faithful without becoming harsh, argumentative, or needlessly offensive?

And how should we pray when the culture around us increasingly rejects truths we believe God has clearly spoken?

Amos faced an audience that didn’t want the message.

Paul told Timothy to preach the Word “in season and out of season.”

What does that require of us today?

And for Christian singles, there’s another area where faithfulness may require going against what feels easier or more culturally acceptable: choosing whom to date and potentially marry.
