“Gift-Wrapped by God: Why Wait?” + LINKUP

Gift Wrapped by God + LINKUPWelcome to Mondays @ Soul Survival. Each week I’ll feature a book that I consider a valuable resource. This week’s selection is Gift-Wrapped by God: Secret Answers to the Question “Why Wait?” by Linda Dillow and Lorraine Pintus.

I’m out of town because of a death in the family, so I’m going to let Linda and Lorraine speak for themselves. From their introduction:

This book is about God’s plan for sexual purity and His heart for you, His daughter. It’s the book we wish we’d had when we were single, because we believe it would have saved us much heartache.

As you read, may your eyes be lifted to the beauty of God’s Gift of sex. May you discover emotional and spiritual reasons why sex is worth the wait. If you have already given away the Gift, may you receive hope of a new beginning sexually.

Thousands of women have shared with us their deep regret concerning their wrong sexual choices. Repeatedly we hear, “I wish someone had told me to say no, told me why to say no, and helped me develop my own plan to say no.” We pray that Gift-Wrapped by God will do this for you.

This is the book I wish I’d had, too, and one I’ve shared with single women and teens for many years. It has Bible study questions in the back and is great for a group or a mother-daughter study. For younger teens, moms will want to check it out first as parts of the book are quite straightforward.

Even married women will benefit from a better understanding of God’s gift of sexuality.

Blessings,
Donna

  1. Donna, May the God of all comfort be with you in this loss. Thank you for hosting and for sharing this VALUABLE resource. I, too, wish I’d been told there were choices earlier in my life.

  2. Donna, I am sorry for your loss. What a blessings for you to still minister to other during your grieving time. It seems like such a great book and so relevant to so many women. I wish I would have had something like this when I was a teen. I was always told in the home and at church not to have sex before marriage because it was biblical. That was it. We were never given a plan or reasons why purity was so important and what a gift sex is inside of marriage. Thank you for sharing this.

    • Jaime, I think your experience is very common in the church. Even though I wasn’t brought up in a Christian home, I was told not to have sex before marriage because I might get pregnant or “what would people think,” but like you I never learned about the beauty of God’s design. I’m so glad you found the resource helpful. Thanks for linking up. Have a blessed week-end.
