“The God Who Invaded History Still Uses Broken People” May 10
Have you ever felt like God could never really use you?
Maybe you look at other Christians and see gifts, talents, confidence, education, opportunities, or experiences you feel you lack. Perhaps you think about your past mistakes, your family background, your fears, or your failures and quietly wonder, “What could God possibly do with someone like me?”
The encouraging truth of Scripture is that God has always delighted in using unlikely people.
In today’s reading, we’ll meet the men who gathered around David before he became king—not polished leaders, scholars, or military elites, but men described as distressed, discouraged, in debt, and discontented. Yet God would transform these overlooked and struggling individuals into David’s mighty men.
Why? Because they were willing to leave where they were, join themselves to God’s work, and make themselves available to Him.
The same principle is still true today. God is not primarily looking for the most talented, educated, or impressive people. He uses humble, faithful men and women who are willing to grow, learn, obey, and step forward in faith.
We’ll also begin the Gospel of John and marvel at one of the most breathtaking truths in all of Scripture: the eternal God stepped into human history. Jesus Christ—the eternal Word who was with God and was God—became flesh and dwelt among us.
The God who invaded history through His Son is still at work in the lives of ordinary people today. And He can use you too.
